Vulture Mine Power House

THIS is IMPRESSIVE..

This in line 6 cylinder motor was a story and a half tall, had cylinders you could stand in and was built in 1904.

The engine had a walkway to service the top of it. Here you can see all the intake/exaust valves and other stuff.

The scale of this engine was GYNOURMOUS. It had a 6 inch dia exhaust pipe that fed up through the roof. MAN it must have been loud with no muffler. It fed a HUGE generator coil that fed a very cool instrumentation panel.

The generator coil can be seen below with the exhaust pipe and the control panel is on the right hand side. There were evidently 2 of these things,,, the one in the foreground is missing leaving only the foundation.

The HUGE generator coil had wire as big around as my thumb.

All of this spinning at high speeds must have been very impressive and highly dangerous.

The big black knob in the center chain fed a HUGE box on the top. This was a important knob as it appeared to control the actual output voltage.

This place used 3KV as its main voltage

So this thing generated at least 160 KW at 3KV. This is impressive even today.

I have hundreds of photos of various parts of the Ball mill and processing plants and many other buildings,, but there is just no room here for all that..

On to the mines...
